As you may have noticed the Castle lights have not been working for the last few weeks. On examination, it appears that the whole system has taken a direct hit from a lightning bolt which has destroyed all the lights.
Since 2000 the Llansteffan Tourism Association has taken responsibility for the upkeep of the lights to support their use throughout the year. This is the biggest case of damage in the light’s history and will cost over £2000 to restore which we have just paid to enable the lights’ use by Xmas.
(Copy of Bill available for viewing in Spar)
The Association has only just enough funds to cover this cost but that will clean our Fund of all monies. In light of this, and the fact that we have had nearly 14 years of virtually trouble free maintenance, I’m sure you will agree that this is worth paying in order to get 365 days a year use of the lights every year ( rather than only 2 weeks at Christmas which is what happened prior to 2000.)
There is at least another £500 that will need to be spent on the lights and cabling in the near future to bring the system up to modern spec but we will not have that available having spent this £2000.
We would be grateful therefore if any who feel they can, will contribute to the Castle Lights Fund to help pay these Bills. Pennies or Pounds – Large or Small sums – they will all count – please give what you can!!!
PLEASE SUPPORT THE CASTLE LIGHTING FUND!!!
